Ellie becomes a Faus

“I think God chose Ellie for us.” That’s what 11-year-old Clara said a few days after we adopted Ellie, our sweet little tripawd. A friend of ours volunteers with the Humane Society, caring for animals who need “foster care” before becoming eligible for adoption. We were interested when we saw photos of her on Facebook, and then realized that the surgery she was recovering from was a rear leg amputation. Someone had found her after she had been hit by a car, and her rear leg was crushed.

When we visited Ellie, it was love at first sight! Our girls had already named her by the time we got home from our visit. We had to wait a little while before we could adopt her, but soon she joined us and fit right in.

Now she’s such a natural part of our family, we couldn’t imagine life without her. On a recent trip to Orlando, whenever we would see something cute we’d say, “Awwww — I miss Ellie!”
